Saudi transport authority unveils two main routes linking Riyadh and Al-Baha to boost tourism

The Transport General Authority has announced the availability of two main routes linking Riyadh to the Al-Baha region via an advanced road network, in a move aimed at supporting the tourism sector and facilitating travel between the two areas.

The authority noted that Saudi Arabia's road network has seen significant development, now extending over 73,000 km, which has enabled the Kingdom to rank first globally in the Road Connectivity Index, according to reports from the Global Competitiveness Forum.

The authority added that Al-Baha, located in the southwest of the Kingdom, boasts a modern road network spanning more than 1,777 km. This enhances its status as one of the leading mountain tourism destinations and helps visitors access the region's dense forests, natural landmarks, and heritage villages.

Details of the routes between Riyadh and Al-Baha

The authority explained that travelers driving from Riyadh to Al-Baha have two main options: the first and fastest route passes through Bisha and is approximately 877 km long, taking about nine hours. The second route goes through Taif Governorate, covering around 1,010 km and taking roughly ten hours.

Additionally, Al-Baha is distinguished by its diverse geography and environment, combining the high Sarawat Mountains and the Tihama plains, along with varied terrain including green mountain peaks, deep valleys, and natural forests, making it a major tourist destination in the Kingdom.
