Yemeni leader praises Saudi support, urges military readiness

Sultan Al-Arada, member of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, emphasized the need to boost combat readiness and strengthen defensive and operational capabilities across all military and security units to improve performance and meet current challenges.

His remarks came during a meeting on Monday with Defense Minister Lieutenant General Taher Al-Aqeeli and Chief of the General Staff and Joint Operations Commander Lieutenant General Sagheer bin Aziz, attended by the Arab Coalition commander in Marib, Brigadier General Faris Al-Shammari, to discuss the latest military developments, readiness levels, and progress of operational plans on various fronts.

During the meeting, Al-Arada stressed that the national battle waged by the Yemeni people and their armed forces for years is a decisive fight to defend the republic and safeguard national principles and achievements.

He noted that national responsibility requires everyone to continue working with determination to confront challenges, reinforce discipline and commitment to national duty, and develop combat and operational capabilities to ensure tasks are carried out effectively and fulfill the people's aspirations to restore state institutions, end the rebellion and coup, and put an end to the humanitarian suffering caused by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.

The council member also called on Yemenis in areas under Houthi control to refuse to send their sons to the frontlines and not allow the militia to exploit them as fuel for its futile wars that do not serve the interests of Yemenis.

He urged all tribes and families in those regions to take responsibility for protecting their children from Houthi recruitment campaigns and prevent them from being drawn into the bloody sectarian project that has only brought destruction and suffering to Yemen.

Al-Arada pointed out that the continued intransigence of the Iran-backed Houthi militia and its rejection of all regional and international initiatives shows it only believes in war, deliberately prolonging Yemenis' suffering in areas under its control and deepening the humanitarian crisis to serve foreign agendas.

He expressed appreciation for the sincere and brotherly positions and support provided by the Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen under the leadership of Saudi Arabia, noting that this support reflects the depth of fraternal ties and shared destiny.

For their part, Defense Minister Lieutenant General Taher Al-Aqeeli and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Sagheer bin Aziz affirmed that the armed forces continue to carry out their national duties with efficiency and responsibility. They stressed that the military institution is steadily enhancing its capabilities and coordination among various agencies and units to protect the nation, defend the republic, and thwart the plans of the Iran-backed Houthi group.
