Al-Musayya plant boosts biodiversity in King Salman Royal Reserve

The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve in the Sakaka region continues to showcase its rich environmental and botanical diversity, with the al-Musayya plant topping the list of native species thriving in the reserve’s sandy habitats and lending a distinctive natural character to much of the area.

Al-Musayya belongs to the sedge family and is a perennial herbaceous plant. It has spread widely throughout the reserve, drawing sustained attention from the reserve’s development authority as part of its efforts to preserve plant cover and protect local wildlife.

The al-Musayya plant is notable for its unique features, reaching about 50 cm in height, with ribbed stems, folded leaves, and distinctive seeds—attributes that highlight the richness of the reserve’s natural environment.
