Saudi Cabinet vows firm response to any hostile acts

The Cabinet affirmed that Saudi Arabia will not hesitate to protect its security, interests, and national assets, and will respond firmly to any hostile acts in accordance with the provisions and customary rules of international humanitarian law and the principle of proportionality. The statement came during a session held today in Jeddah, chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The Cabinet strongly condemned the attacks carried out by Iran-backed terrorist militias in Yemen and Iraq, which targeted oil facilities in the Riyadh and Eastern regions, as well as commercial vessels in the Red Sea. The Cabinet also praised the effectiveness of Saudi air defenses in countering these attacks.

The Cabinet stressed the need for the Iraqi government to take all necessary measures to ensure its territory is not used as a launchpad for hostile acts. It also expressed appreciation for the positions of countries and international organizations that condemned these criminal attacks.

The Cabinet reviewed the latest developments in the Kingdom’s efforts, through communication and consultation with brotherly and friendly countries, to de-escalate tensions in the region, ensure the security of maritime passages in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea, and support all initiatives that enhance regional and international stability.

The Cabinet reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting dialogue, diplomacy, and international cooperation, especially amid current regional challenges. It emphasized the importance of building a regional order based on the core principles of the United Nations Charter, including respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, good neighborliness, freedom of navigation, and adherence to international law.
