AI-powered control center enhances Saudi road network management

The General Authority for Roads is relying on an intelligent control center powered by artificial intelligence to enhance the management of the road network. This initiative aims to strengthen infrastructure readiness, improve the efficiency of logistics movement, and accelerate responses to accidents and emergencies.

The center operates with 130 AI-enabled cameras that monitor the road network around the clock, allowing for continuous traffic surveillance. This contributes to higher safety standards and a better experience for road users.

According to the Authority, the center is managed by national professionals and provides real-time monitoring of vehicle numbers and classifications. It also detects slowdowns on the road network, supporting swift operational decisions during accidents or emergencies and enhancing overall traffic management efficiency.

As part of its operations, the control center continues to coordinate with relevant authorities and directs maintenance teams to intervention sites as needed. This helps reduce response times, maintain smooth traffic flow, and improve the operational efficiency of the road network.
