Qassim Municipality begins demolition of unsafe buildings in Buraidah

The Qassim Municipality, in coordination with the Committee for Unsafe Buildings, has begun demolishing abandoned and unsafe buildings and workshops in neighborhoods across Buraidah. The initiative aims to reduce risks that could threaten public safety, residents, pedestrians, and neighboring properties.

Naif bin Abdurabah Al-Nafie, spokesperson for the Qassim Municipality, said the demolition targets old buildings and facilities whose owners had previously been notified to remove them or contact the relevant authorities to complete necessary procedures, but had not responded.

Al-Nafie added that the targeted list includes mud, reinforced concrete, and traditional buildings, as well as abandoned iron workshops at risk of collapse. He confirmed that the municipality will continue handling these sites according to approved procedures to enhance public safety and reduce hazards and urban blight associated with abandoned structures.

The municipality called on property and workshop owners affected by the campaign to promptly contact the Technical Affairs Agency, represented by the Emergency and Crisis Management Department and the Committee for Unsafe Buildings, and complete the required procedures within 30 days from the date of the announcement.
