Najran region continues to implement urban projects aimed at improving quality of life and enhancing infrastructure efficiency, while preserving the area’s architectural identity. These efforts coincide with World Cities Day, marked annually on October 31.

The Najran Municipality announced that it completed around 12 development projects in 2025 at a cost exceeding 117 million riyals (SAR). These included four road projects, five stormwater and rainwater drainage projects, two urban beautification initiatives, and one project for municipal buildings and facilities. Additional works covered paving, sidewalks, lighting, visual pollution removal, and the creation of parks, walkways, and public squares.

To further humanize the city, the municipality has established 44 sports walkways in parks and recreational areas across Najran city and its governorates, alongside launching public space activation initiatives such as the “Bahja” program.

King Fahd National Park stands out as one of the region’s main recreational facilities, spanning about 4.25 million square meters. The park features more than 653,000 square meters of green spaces, 35,215 trees and palms, and a 2,660-meter cycling track.

Last year, the region saw the launch of three road projects by the General Authority for Roads, totaling 159 kilometers in length and costing 110 million riyals. These projects included maintenance, resurfacing, flood damage repairs, and road safety improvements along sections of the Najran–Sulayyil and Sharurah–Riyadh roads.

In the water and sanitation sector, the National Water Company carried out six water projects costing over 201 million riyals and three sewage network projects exceeding 122 million riyals. The works also included expanding water networks and relocating pipelines conflicting with stormwater drainage projects, according to data released in August 2025.

These projects aim to keep pace with urban growth, improve public services and facilities, and strengthen coordination among service agencies, while preserving Najran’s urban identity and supporting Saudi Vision 2030’s goal of building a sustainable urban environment.
