Jazan University President Mohammed bin Hassan Abu Rasain inaugurated a workshop titled "Transparency: Its Concept and Importance" this morning. The event was organized by the General Administration of Legal Affairs in cooperation with the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), and held at the College of Engineering and Computer Science auditorium, with the attendance of legal and administrative professionals and university staff.

Abu Rasain emphasized the need to focus on awareness, the absence of conflicts of interest, and the importance of ongoing awareness programs among colleagues in various fields. He noted that current regulations do not present explicit conflicts of interest, but rather focus on educational and advisory aspects. He stressed the importance of upholding trust, ethical, and Islamic values when drafting regulations and executive rules, especially those concerning faculty and students, to avoid potential professional or personal conflicts of interest.

The workshop, presented by Abdullah Abu Hikmah, Director of the Anti-Corruption Department at Nazaha’s Jazan branch, addressed the concept of transparency and its role in promoting professional integrity. It highlighted the importance of adhering to professional values such as discipline, self-monitoring, fulfilling rights, cooperation, and considering the public interest.

The session reviewed how clarity and disclosure can improve administrative procedures and decision-making quality, strengthen trust between institutions and their beneficiaries, and promote the behaviors and ethics employees need to fulfill their responsibilities efficiently and honestly, reducing workplace violations.

The workshop also discussed the economic and social impacts of corruption, its effects on sustainable development and future generations, and stressed the need to protect public funds and activate oversight and accountability mechanisms. It recalled firm directives in combating corruption, emphasizing that "the Kingdom does not tolerate corruption from anyone, nor accept it for anyone, and grants no immunity in corruption cases."

The workshop is part of Jazan University's commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation with oversight bodies, raising awareness of legal responsibilities in academic and community settings, and developing administrative practices in line with approved regulations, supporting governance and enhancing work efficiency in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
