Riyadh Municipality launches second Azwa Award for volunteer initiatives

Riyadh Municipality has launched the second edition of the “Azwa” Award in the municipal sector for 2026, aiming to recognize outstanding community initiatives, promote civic engagement, and foster a culture of volunteerism in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 goals of enhancing quality of life and building a vibrant society.

The municipality invited individuals, volunteer teams, government entities, non-profit organizations, and private sector establishments to register on the award platform from today until October 12, 2026, and to submit their initiatives and experiences under four competitive tracks: municipal volunteering, community initiatives, social responsibility, and cultural participation.

The award also features an honorary track to recognize the exemplary citizen and exemplary organization for their contributions to community service and quality of life, with a focus on highlighting impactful success stories and encouraging outstanding community practices.

Governance and transparent standards for the award

The award is managed under a comprehensive governance system based on the principles of integrity, transparency, and independence, with specialized committees overseeing screening, evaluation, and judging. The process relies on published criteria emphasizing impact, innovation, sustainability, and quality of execution to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all participants.

In this context, the municipality noted that the launch of the second cycle builds on the success of the first, which saw over 2,800 initiatives registered, 265 participants competing, 17 winners honored, and more than 1,000 visitors attending the award forum, in addition to over 3 million impressions across social media platforms.

This year’s Azwa Award is part of Riyadh Municipality’s efforts to expand community participation and build effective partnerships across sectors, supporting its vision to be a leading municipality for a prosperous, sustainable city that enhances quality of life.
