Saudi customs report 1,119 contraband seizures in one week

Saudi Arabia’s land, sea, and air customs outlets recorded 1,119 contraband seizures last week, according to the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA). The move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and protect society from all forms of prohibited items.

The confiscated items included 58 types of narcotics, such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and Captagon pills, among others. In addition, 212 types of banned substances were seized.

Customs officers also intercepted 850 items of tobacco and its derivatives, along with 14 types of cash, and three types of weapons and related equipment.

ZATCA reaffirmed its commitment to strict customs oversight of imports and exports to ensure public safety, working in close coordination with relevant authorities.

The authority also urged the public to help combat smuggling and protect the national economy by reporting violations via the security hotline (1910), email ([email protected]), or international number (009661910). ZATCA assured that all reports are handled confidentially and that informants may receive a financial reward if their information is verified.
