Thunderstorms and strong winds forecast across several Saudi regions Thursday

The National Center for Meteorology has forecast moderate to heavy thunderstorms today, with potential flash flooding and hail showers in parts of Jazan and Asir. Lighter to moderate rainfall is expected in parts of Al-Baha and the southern areas of Makkah and the Eastern Province. Active winds stirring dust and sand will affect these regions as well as parts of Riyadh and Madinah, possibly reducing visibility to near zero in areas of Najran and along the coastal road to Jazan.

The report added that surface winds over the Red Sea will range from northwesterly to southwesterly at 10-25 km/h in the northern and central parts, and from southwesterly to northwesterly at 12-35 km/h, reaching over 45 km/h, with thunderstorm clouds forming over the southern part. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one meter in the north and center, and from half a meter to one and a half meters, exceeding two meters with thunderstorms in the south. Sea conditions will be slight in the north and center, and slight to moderate, becoming rough with thunderstorms in the south.

Surface winds over the Arabian Gulf will be westerly to northwesterly in the north and center, and northeasterly to easterly at 10-25 km/h, reaching over 45 km/h, with thunderstorm clouds forming over the southern part. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one meter, exceeding two meters with thunderstorms in the south. Sea conditions will be slight, becoming rough with thunderstorms in the southern part.
