Transport General Authority launches English testing platform for maritime sector

The Transport General Authority, in cooperation with the National Maritime Academy, has launched an English language testing platform for workers in the maritime sector. The initiative aims to assess their proficiency in specialized maritime English and to develop their language skills in line with industry requirements.

In a statement on its X account, the authority said passing the English test through the platform will be mandatory for all targeted groups starting in 2027. The move seeks to standardize language proficiency benchmarks, enhance workforce readiness, and develop skills to meet the needs of the maritime sector.

This initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the authority and the National Maritime Academy to develop human capital and qualify sector employees according to maritime industry requirements, contributing to improved performance and higher professional standards.
