Saudi Islamic affairs minister launches digital platform for 85,000 mosques

Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, inaugurated today at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh a new electronic platform for mosque affairs and a dedicated app for mosque staff, in partnership with Zain Telecom.

The system covers more than 85,968 mosques, grand mosques, and Eid prayer sites across all regions of the Kingdom, serving 13 branches and 151 cities and governorates, with around 14,647 users benefiting from it. The platform aims to unify data and procedures, improve information quality and accessibility, and provide indicators and reports to support monitoring and decision-making.

Comprehensive services and full mosque lifecycle management

The digital system manages the entire lifecycle of mosques, from identifying needs and facilitating donations for mosque construction, through the stages of building, registration, and operation, to field inspections, maintenance, asset management, reporting, and performance indicators.

The platform places special emphasis on regulatory visits, enabling inspectors to conduct on-site rounds via the app, using the mosque’s geographic location, with the ability to document and approve visit results and observations electronically.

Integration with 'Masajid' app and millions of inspection visits recorded

The system integrates with the 'Masajid' app for beneficiaries, which allows users to search for mosques, explore opportunities to contribute to cleaning, maintenance, and construction, determine the qibla direction and prayer times, and submit reports and evaluations electronically.

Since its pilot launch, the system has recorded over 3,601,912 inspection visits, including 2,866,570 by inspectors, 32,732 special visits, 88,164 Friday visits, 594,956 by female inspectors, 19,155 Eid prayer site visits, and 335 visits to vacant plots.

Advancing digital transformation and service quality

The launch of the system is part of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance’s efforts to drive digital transformation, enhance mosque operations, improve field supervision and monitoring, and unify data sources. These initiatives aim to raise the quality of services provided to mosques and worshippers, strengthen institutional performance, and support decision-makers.
