Saudi customs foil 1,075 contraband attempts in one week

Saudi customs authorities at land, sea, and air ports recorded 1,075 contraband seizures last week, as part of ongoing efforts by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) to strengthen security and protect society from prohibited items of all kinds.

The confiscated items included 71 types of narcotics, such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and Captagon pills, among others, in addition to 390 types of other banned substances.

Customs officials also foiled 2,234 attempts involving tobacco and its derivatives, as well as 39 types of cash amounts, and two types of weapons and their accessories.

ZATCA affirmed its commitment to tightening customs controls on imports and exports to ensure the safety and security of society, in continuous cooperation and coordination with all relevant partners.

The authority also urged the public to help combat smuggling and protect both society and the national economy by reporting violations through its security hotline (1910), email ([email protected]), or international number (009661910). Reports related to smuggling crimes and customs violations are handled with strict confidentiality, and informants may receive a financial reward if their information proves accurate.
