Saudi Arabia and Mauritius sign MoU to combat cross-border crime

Saudi Arabia, represented by the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority, and the Republic of Mauritius, represented by the Financial Crimes Commission, signed a memorandum of understanding today to prevent corruption and enhance joint cooperation in combating cross-border crimes related to corruption.

The MoU was signed on behalf of Saudi Arabia by Mazin bin Ibrahim Al-Kahmous, President of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority, and on behalf of Mauritius by Teterodio Dawoodarry, President of the Financial Crimes Commission.

The memorandum aims to strengthen institutional cooperation between the two sides, exchange information and expertise, build capacities, and develop specialized practices in the fields of integrity protection, corruption prevention and combatting, and fighting cross-border crimes related to corruption, in accordance with the provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

During the visit, Al-Kahmous met with the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr. Navin Ramgoolam, and with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Dhananjay Ramful, in the presence of Saudi Ambassador to Mauritius, Fayez bin Mishaal Al-Tamiyat.

The meetings reviewed bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Mauritius and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in integrity protection, corruption prevention and combatting, as well as exchanging expertise and best practices. The discussions aimed to support international efforts to promote transparency and governance, and to strengthen cooperation in fighting financial crimes and cross-border corruption.

This visit is part of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority's efforts to expand its international presence and partnerships with peer agencies and international organizations. These efforts contribute to the exchange of expertise, development of institutional capacities, and support for global initiatives to protect integrity and combat corruption, reinforcing Saudi Arabia's role as an active partner in international efforts to promote integrity and transparency, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
