Saudi education ministry sets rules to fast-track gifted students

The new General Education Law allows the Ministry of Education to establish specific regulations to accelerate the advancement of outstanding students from one stage of general education to a higher level, ensuring they maintain their excellence and adapt to the requirements of the new academic stage.

Article 23 of the law states that the ministry will set the necessary rules and requirements for fast-tracking high-achieving students, supporting their continued academic distinction and enhancing their ability to adapt to the next level.

The article also requires the ministry to develop clear standards to identify eligible students, implement comprehensive assessment procedures, train teachers to apply these regulations, and strengthen coordination with parents.

This initiative is part of the law’s broader aim to provide more flexible educational pathways that accommodate individual differences among students, support gifted students, and foster their scientific abilities.
