Islamic Affairs Ministry uses longest-ever Iftar table in Indonesia

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by the Religious Attaché in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, held Monday the longest-ever Iftar table in the history of Indonesia. This event was part of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Iftar program, which the Ministry has been hosting in the cities and states of the Republic of Indonesia.

West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah and the Religious Attaché at the Saudi Embassy in Jakarta Ahmed Bin Isa Al-Hazmi attended the event in the presence of several political and Islamic figures and heads of universities and Islamic associations in the province. The Iftar event, which comes within the efforts of the Islamic Affairs Ministry to achieve the aspirations of the wise leadership, also saw the attendance of more than 8,000 Indonesian citizens, from various segments of the society.

The table extended over 1,200 meters in West Sumatra’s city of Padang, according to official Indonesian statistics. The governor of West Sumatra indicated that the Indonesian government would submit the table to the Guinness Book of Records as the longest dining table in the history of the country.

He also extended his thanks to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman for such great generosity. Governor Mahyeldi also expressed his aspiration for such good deeds to strengthen the relations between the governments and peoples of the two countries, echoing his thanks to the leadership of the Kingdom, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, and the Religious Attaché as well as everyone who contributed to the success of such noble work. Moreover, he noted that the programs and initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom and their positive impacts strengthen the fraternal ties between Muslims and other societies.
