Environmental Security seizes Riyadh resident for illegal firewood storage

The Special Forces for Environmental Security have apprehended a Saudi citizen in the Riyadh region for violating environmental regulations by possessing seven cubic meters of locally sourced firewood. Legal procedures were taken against the individual, and the confiscated firewood was handed over to the relevant authorities.

The forces clarified that the penalty for using local firewood or charcoal in commercial activities can reach up to 32,000 riyals (SAR) per cubic meter, while the penalty for transporting, selling, or storing local firewood or charcoal can reach up to 16,000 riyals (SAR) per cubic meter. The public is urged to report any violations against the environment or wildlife by calling 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or 999 and 996 in other regions of the Kingdom. All reports will be treated with strict confidentiality and without liability for the informant.
