Gulf states aware of Iran’s efforts to widen regional conflict, analyst says

Political analyst Dr. Furat Al-Bassam said that Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are aware of attempts by Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to expand the conflict in the region. He emphasized that the Gulf states, led by Saudi Arabia, are not being drawn into this path, but are instead working to restore security, enhance economic stability, and protect energy resources.

Speaking in an interview with Al Ekhbariya TV, Al-Bassam added that Iran is seeking to spread the conflict across multiple fronts, targeting Jordan and the Gulf states, as well as fronts in Yemen and northern Iraq. He noted that countries in the region have become aware of the Revolutionary Guard’s objectives and are therefore responding to its moves with caution.

He explained that the consequences of the conflict are not limited to the region, citing South Korea’s announcement that it will deploy naval forces to help secure the Strait of Hormuz and other maritime routes, facilitating commercial shipping. He stressed the importance of safeguarding energy supplies and maintaining stable global prices.
