Qatar welcomes UN Security Council condemnation of Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

Qatar has welcomed the statement issued by members of the UN Security Council on August 7, which condemned the missile attacks launched by the Houthi group against Saudi Arabia since July 13, as well as attacks on commercial vessels since July 22.

In a statement released today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar’s full appreciation for the Security Council’s emphasis on the need to adhere to international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, and its rejection of actions that threaten regional security and the rights and freedoms of maritime navigation.

The ministry reaffirmed Qatar’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty and security, stressing that the security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
