Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Chairman of the National Transport Safety Center, Saleh Al-Jasser, inaugurated the center’s new headquarters in Riyadh on Thursday, attended by several officials and board members. The move aims to strengthen the center’s institutional and technical capabilities and enhance its role in improving safety across all modes of transport in Saudi Arabia.

During his tour, Al-Jasser reviewed the center’s facilities and specialized departments, receiving a briefing on its operations, key projects, initiatives, and the technical and technological capabilities supporting safety investigations, in line with international best practices and standards.

Specialized facilities and advanced technologies

The tour included the engineering laboratory, which uses advanced technology to document, analyze, and reconstruct accident sites, as well as the Transport Safety Observatory platform, which helps monitor and analyze safety data to support decision-making. Al-Jasser also visited the operations control center, which operates around the clock to ensure readiness for ongoing operations and incident response, and the training hall dedicated to developing national talent and building expertise in transport safety.

New cooperation agreements

The inauguration ceremony featured the signing of two memoranda of understanding between the National Transport Safety Center and both the Insurance Authority and the National Center for Meteorology. These agreements aim to strengthen cooperation, exchange data and expertise, and support joint efforts to develop the transport safety system, thereby improving practices and raising safety standards across the Kingdom.

National Transport Safety Center CEO, Captain Tai bin Abdulrahman Al-Shammari, said the new headquarters marks a significant milestone for the center and reflects the support it receives to enhance transport safety. He noted that the specialized facilities and advanced capabilities will boost the center’s efficiency in monitoring, analysis, safety investigations, and developing specialized national talent.

Supporting Vision 2030

The opening of the new headquarters builds on the center’s efforts to create an integrated transport safety system based on national expertise, modern technology, and global best practices. This will improve the effectiveness of safety investigations and the issuance of recommendations to reduce accidents and protect lives and assets, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which prioritize transport safety and efficiency as part of building a safe, sustainable sector and enhancing quality of life in the Kingdom.
