Saudi, Qatari foreign ministers discuss regional developments, cooperation

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani at the ministry headquarters in Riyadh on Monday.

During the meeting, the two officials reviewed the close relations between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, explored areas of mutual cooperation, and discussed ways to strengthen and develop ties to meet the aspirations of their leaderships and peoples.

The ministers also discussed the latest developments in the region and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and maintain regional security and stability. They emphasized the importance of continued coordination, consultation, and unified positions on current developments to enhance the effectiveness of efforts aimed at consolidating security and stability in the region.

Both ministers affirmed their support for Qatari and Pakistani mediation efforts and their role in promoting diplomatic solutions to disputes. They also stressed the need for continued joint action to ensure the security, safety, and freedom of navigation in the region's vital maritime corridors.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji and Prince Abdullah bin Khalid bin Saud Al Kabeer Al Saud, Director General of Policy Planning.
