Thunderstorms and strong winds forecast for several Saudi regions today

The National Center for Meteorology, in its daily report, forecast moderate to heavy thunderstorms that may cause flash flooding, accompanied by hail showers and strong winds, in parts of Jazan and Asir regions.

The report added that parts of Riyadh and Najran regions will be affected by strong winds stirring dust and sand, leading to near-zero horizontal visibility, especially along the road between Wadi Al-Dawasir and Sharurah.

Additionally, the center noted that parts of the Eastern Province will experience a rise in maximum temperatures, with a chance of thunderstorms in southern areas. Fog formation is also possible along coastal parts of the Eastern Province and Tabuk.

Sea and wind conditions forecast

The report stated that surface winds over the Red Sea will be southwesterly to southeasterly at 10–25 km/h in the northern part, and westerly to northwesterly at 12–32 km/h in the central and southern parts, possibly exceeding 50 km/h with thunderstorm clouds in the south.

Wave heights in the Red Sea are expected to range from half a meter to one meter in the north, and from half a meter to one and a half meters in the central and southern parts, possibly exceeding two meters with thunderstorm clouds in the south. Sea conditions will be slight in the north and slight to moderate in the south.

In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds will be easterly to northeasterly, shifting in the evening to southwesterly to westerly in the north, and westerly to northwesterly in the central and southern parts at 10–25 km/h. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one meter, with slight sea conditions.
