Yemeni PM praises Saudi support, highlights key role in economic stability

Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Shaye Mohsen Al-Zindani affirmed that the government, under the directives of the Presidential Leadership Council, continues to update its response plans and raise readiness to address various developments, in order to maintain economic and living stability and shield citizens from the consequences of actions led by the Houthi militia in service of Iranian agendas. He stressed that safeguarding economic security and meeting citizens’ needs are top priorities for the government at this stage.

His remarks came during a government meeting in the interim capital, Aden, to review the latest economic, humanitarian, and service developments, and to assess the impact of the continued targeting of commercial vessels and threats to the security of the Red Sea and international shipping lanes by the Houthi militia, as part of their implementation of Iranian plans aimed at destabilizing the region.

The meeting, attended by several relevant ministers, discussed government response plans for various potential scenarios to ensure market stability, continued flow of imports, and the securing of strategic reserves of essential goods, food, and fuel.

Dr. Al-Zindani reiterated the government’s appreciation for the brotherly support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its pivotal role in supporting Yemen’s economy and enhancing the government’s ability to meet its obligations. He confirmed that the government will continue to work closely with the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by Saudi Arabia and its international partners, to protect the security of international navigation, restore state institutions, and safeguard Yemen’s sovereignty.

The Yemeni Prime Minister also emphasized that the continued targeting of commercial vessels and threats to international navigation by the Houthi militia not only affect regional and international security but also exacerbate the economic and humanitarian burdens on the Yemeni people, revealing the militia’s insistence on pursuing Iranian agendas at the expense of Yemenis’ interests and prospects for peace and stability.
