Najran governor highlights leadership’s support for university education

Najran Governor Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed praised the strong support and attention given by the national leadership to university education, noting the resources provided to advance the education system, scientific research, and the development of national talent.

His remarks came during a meeting in his office with Najran University President Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim Al-Khudairi, who presented a report on the university’s preparations for the 2026-2027 academic year.

The governor emphasized the importance of developing academic and research programs, strengthening the alignment of university graduates with labor market needs, and supporting innovation and specialized disciplines to serve the region and contribute to its development.

University preparations for the new academic year

Governor Jalawi reviewed key indicators for Najran University, which has over 24,000 students, 14 colleges, and 6 supporting deanships. The university offers 38 bachelor’s, 26 master’s, and 23 diploma programs, and aims to admit 7,025 new students for the upcoming academic year.

He was briefed on the readiness of academic, administrative, and service sectors, as well as maintenance and safety measures across university facilities. Preparations for transportation, campus security, student services and guidance, electronic systems, and digital transformation projects were also discussed.

Academic and research progress

The governor reviewed Najran University’s academic standing, including its progress in global rankings in several scientific and engineering fields, as well as its improved research performance and efforts to promote innovation and enhance competitiveness locally and internationally.
