Pakistani executed in Makkah for heroin smuggling

The Ministry of Interior issued a statement today announcing the execution of a convicted individual in the Makkah region. The statement reads as follows:

Allah Almighty said: "And do not cause corruption upon the earth after its reformation," and, "Do not seek corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters," and, "Allah does not like corruption," and, "The penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment."

Mohammed Salim, a Pakistani national, was found guilty of smuggling heroin into the Kingdom. Security authorities apprehended the offender, and investigations led to formal charges. He was referred to the competent court, which convicted him and sentenced him to death as a discretionary punishment.

The verdict was upheld on appeal and confirmed by the Supreme Court. A royal order was then issued to carry out the sentence. The execution of Mohammed Salim, a Pakistani national, was carried out on Thursday, 9/2/1448 AH (corresponding to July 23, 2026) in the Makkah region.

The Ministry of Interior, by announcing this, affirms the Saudi government's commitment to protecting citizens and residents from the scourge of drugs, and to imposing the strictest penalties on traffickers and dealers due to the grave harm they cause to individuals and society.
