Hajj and Umrah research forum highlights tech innovations for pilgrims

Dr. Somaya Sharaf, Vice Dean of the Institute of Research and Studies at Umm Al-Qura University, said the Hajj, Umrah, and Visit Research Forum serves as a platform for research and innovation, highlighting the use of artificial intelligence and technology to improve services for pilgrims and enhance crowd management.

Speaking to Al Ekhbariya TV, she added that the accompanying events aim to anticipate innovative solutions in crowd management, healthcare and emergency services, transportation, and to boost safety and spatial guidance efficiency.

Umm Al-Qura University is organizing the 26th Scientific Forum for Hajj, Umrah, and Visit Research from 20 to 21 Rabi Al-Awwal 1448 AH, corresponding to September 2 to 3, 2026, under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The event will be held at King Abdulaziz Historical Hall at the university's Abidiya campus.
