Kuwait reaffirms full support for Saudi Arabia after drone attacks

Kuwait has strongly condemned the attacks that attempted to target oil facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province and Riyadh using drones launched by Iran-backed militias in Iraq.

In a statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attacks were a blatant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a breach of international law, the UN Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

Kuwait reiterated its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures the Kingdom takes to safeguard its security and sovereignty, stressing that Saudi Arabia’s security is integral to the security of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

Earlier, Saudi Ministry of Defense spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki confirmed that air defenses had intercepted and destroyed several drones in recent hours that attempted to target oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh.

Major General Al-Malki explained that these terrorist attempts originated from Iraqi territory and were carried out by Iran-backed terrorist militias, affirming Saudi Arabia’s legitimate right to defend itself and its assets, and to respond at the appropriate time and place.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs also strongly condemned the drone attacks launched by Iran-backed militias in Iraq, reaffirming the Kingdom’s determination to safeguard its security and sovereignty and to deter aggressors, while stressing its right to respond to the sources of aggression. The ministry also reiterated the need for the Iraqi government to take all necessary measures to prevent its territory from being used as a launchpad for attacks.
