Exhibition traces history of King Abdulaziz International Quran Competition

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance has organized an exhibition alongside the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Quran, coinciding with the competition’s final rounds at the Grand Mosque.

The exhibition chronicles the competition’s journey since its inception, highlighting key milestones and its development up to the current edition, which features a significant expansion in participation and competition. The exhibition is being held at the Hilton Conference Hotel.

On display are historical photographs and notable quotes from King Abdulaziz, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, reflecting the Saudi leadership’s longstanding commitment to the Holy Quran and its supporters. The exhibition underscores the Kingdom’s enduring dedication to the Quran, adherence to its teachings, and ongoing support for Quranic competitions and their participants.

The exhibition also highlights new developments in the current edition, including the introduction of a dedicated section for female participants, ongoing improvements in organization and technology, and broader international participation. This year, 334 contestants from 133 countries are taking part. The exhibition also spotlights the significant increase in prize value, which has reached SAR 10,260,000, and the number of winners, now totaling 50—five winners in each of the competition’s five categories.

The exhibition serves as a documentary window into the history of the King Abdulaziz International Quran Competition, offering visitors insight into decades of growth and progress, and showcasing its current international stature among global Quranic competitions.
