Asir Municipality boosts Abha tourism with road humanization projects

Asir Municipality, through its Projects and Infrastructure Agency, is continuing work on the humanization of Al-Mahala and Prince Sultan roads in Abha by planting more than 1,400 poinciana and jacaranda trees. The initiative aims to enhance the city’s tourism appeal, improve the urban landscape, and create more beautiful and sustainable urban environments to enrich the visitor experience, raise residents’ quality of life, and reflect Abha’s growing status as one of the Kingdom’s leading tourist destinations.

The municipality explained that the project seeks to develop public spaces and transform them into attractive and safe urban environments by increasing greenery, improving air quality, providing shade, and adding aesthetic touches along both roads. These efforts aim to strengthen the city’s visual identity and improve mobility and leisure experiences for residents and visitors alike.

The project also includes the creation of a dedicated cycling path along Al-Mahala Road to promote sustainable transportation and encourage physical activity, offering a safe route that meets the needs of local residents and visitors while enhancing the quality of recreational and service facilities in the city.

Asir Municipality emphasized that the humanization of Al-Mahala and Prince Sultan roads is part of a broader package of development projects underway across the region’s cities and governorates. These efforts aim to improve the urban landscape, upgrade infrastructure, and provide more sustainable and attractive urban environments, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to enhance quality of life, support tourism development, and position Asir as a leading year-round tourist destination.
