Bahrain welcomes signing of Mecca Joint Defense Agreement

Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the signing of the “Mecca Joint Defense Agreement” during the Mecca Joint Defense Summit hosted by Saudi Arabia today. The agreement was signed by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

According to a statement posted on the ministry’s official X account, the ministry highlighted the strong defense capabilities and extensive military experience of the three countries, as well as their proven roles in supporting regional security and stability, and their record of honoring commitments and upholding agreements.

The ministry described the agreement as a strategic partnership among equal parties, each contributing its resources with a sincere commitment to safeguarding security and stability in the region and the world, which enhances its deterrent effect and builds mutual trust.

The Bahraini Foreign Ministry also praised the agreement as a reflection of a shared determination to strengthen deterrence, considering it a significant addition that complements the joint defense system of the Gulf Cooperation Council states, boosts its effectiveness, and helps reinforce regional security and stability based on solidarity, integration, and partnership among brotherly nations.

The ministry affirmed that the security of Saudi Arabia is inseparable from Bahrain’s own security, emphasizing Bahrain’s support for all efforts that enhance regional security and stability, protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, safeguard their interests, and promote political solutions to address regional issues.
