Thunderstorms, hail and strong winds forecast for several Saudi regions Wednesday

The National Center for Meteorology has forecast moderate to heavy thunderstorms on Wednesday, with the risk of flash floods, hail showers, and strong winds raising dust and sand across parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, and Madinah.

The center's report added that high temperatures will persist in parts of the Eastern Province, with a chance of early morning fog along coastal areas. Thunderstorm clouds accompanied by strong winds are also possible in southern parts of the Eastern Province, as well as in areas of Najran, Riyadh, and Hail.

According to the report, surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly in the northern and central sections at 18–42 km/h, shifting after noon to southeasterly to southwesterly in the southern section at 10–32 km/h, reaching over 50 km/h during thunderstorms. Wave heights will range from half a meter to 1.5 meters, exceeding 2 meters during storms in the southern part. Sea conditions will be slight to moderate, becoming rough with thunderstorms in the south.

Surface winds over the Arabian Gulf will be southeasterly to southwesterly in the northern and central parts, and northeasterly to southeasterly in the southern part at 10–30 km/h. Waves will be half a meter to one meter high, and sea conditions will be slight.
