Saudi education minister discusses innovation and research cooperation with Indonesia

Saudi Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to enabling Indonesian students to benefit from opportunities to study at Saudi universities, and to learn about these opportunities through the “Study in Saudi Arabia” platform. He welcomed the strengthening of academic programs and student exchanges between educational institutions in both countries.

This came during his official visit to Indonesia, which aimed to enhance frameworks for joint cooperation in education, scientific research, and human development.

The visit builds on the close relationship between the two countries and supports shared goals in developing human capital and aligning educational efforts with national transformation plans, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Human Capability Development Program, as well as Indonesia’s Vision 2045.

During the visit, Al-Benyan held a series of official meetings attended by Saudi Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal Al-Amoudi, with several Indonesian ministers to discuss opportunities for cooperation and developing partnerships in innovation, scientific research, and artificial intelligence.

As part of efforts to strengthen academic ties, Al-Benyan also met with a number of Indonesian university presidents to discuss ways to activate research partnerships and expand knowledge and student exchanges between higher education institutions in both countries.

The minister’s program included a visit to the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Sciences in Jakarta, affiliated with Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, which serves as a key bridge for cultural and educational exchange. He met with the institute’s leadership, academic staff, and students enrolled in Arabic language and Sharia programs. Al-Benyan also met with the administration of Al-Haramain Saudi Academy in Jakarta to discuss ways to enhance academic performance and educational content, supporting Saudi teachers and enabling Saudi students at the academy.

The outcomes of this visit reflect the rapid development of Saudi-Indonesian relations across various fields, and the shared vision of investing in education as a foundation for sustainable development and the knowledge economy.
