Civil Defense declares end of danger in Taif after sirens sounded

The General Directorate of Civil Defense announced early Saturday that the threat which prompted the activation of the early warning system in Taif has ended, confirming that conditions have returned to normal. The authority emphasized the importance of continuing to follow preventive instructions to ensure public safety.

Earlier, Civil Defense had sounded warning sirens and urged the public to avoid gathering or taking photos, and not to spread rumors.

The directorate explained that upon receiving alert messages from the National Early Warning Platform, people should remain calm and follow official instructions. It also advised immediately moving to the nearest safe place inside a building or an interior room away from windows, and staying there until the danger has passed.

The authority stressed the need to remain indoors until the threat is over, avoid open areas and glass, and not to stand on balconies or rooftops. If outside, people are advised to enter the nearest building or shelter behind a solid barrier.

The directorate also called on the public to avoid gathering and taking photos, and to stay away from hazardous locations. If a warning is received while driving, motorists should pull over to the side of the road away from bridges and tall buildings. Civil Defense emphasized the importance of calling the emergency number (911) in the Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, and (998) in other regions of the Kingdom if any danger is observed, and to follow instructions through official channels.
