King Saud University launches digital health innovation platform at LEAP 2026

King Saud University Medical City, represented by its Executive Directorate of Information Technology and Digital Transformation, participated in the LEAP 2026 conference held in Riyadh. The participation is part of its ongoing efforts to promote innovation, drive digital transformation in the healthcare sector, and advance healthcare systems.

During the event, the "Digital Health Innovation Platform" was launched to support innovators and strengthen collaboration with relevant entities in technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The initiative aims to deliver sustainable solutions that keep pace with rapid developments in the healthcare sector.

Announcement of Healthathon 2026

The Medical City announced the opening of registration for "Healthathon 2026 – Digital Health Innovation Hackathon" in its second edition. The event targets innovators, developers, researchers, healthcare professionals, and entrepreneurs, and will be held from October 1 to 4, 2026, at King Saud University. Its goal is to develop innovative technological solutions that can be tested and implemented in real healthcare environments.

The Healthathon features four main tracks: digital patient experience, proactive healthcare, health insurance technologies, and women's digital health. These tracks are designed to encourage participants to develop ideas that address real-world challenges in the healthcare sector.

Strengthening partnerships and digital transformation

Mubarak bin Marai Al-Shahrani, Executive Director of Information Technology and Digital Transformation at the Medical City, stated that participation in the conference reflects the Medical City's commitment to supporting innovation and adopting modern digital solutions. He noted that building an integrated digital health innovation ecosystem requires the synergy of healthcare, technical, and academic expertise, which supports the development of new healthcare models and improves user experience.

Al-Shahrani emphasized that the initiatives launched by the Medical City aim to empower national talent and leverage artificial intelligence and digital transformation technologies, thereby enhancing the quality of healthcare services and operational efficiency.

In the same context, the Medical City stressed the importance of continued partnerships and collaboration among the healthcare, technology, and academic sectors, and supporting initiatives that contribute to building a more innovative future for the healthcare sector in line with Vision 2030 goals for digital transformation and innovation.
