Technology increasingly used in human trafficking targeting youth, lawyer warns

Lawyer Rabab Al-Muaabi has warned that technology has become one of the main tools used in human trafficking crimes, with youth and children under 18 being the primary targets.

Speaking in an interview with Al-Ekhbariya TV, Al-Muaabi explained that exploitation is not always financial or direct, noting that human trafficking crimes have evolved alongside advances in technology and methods.

She pointed out that Article 9 of the law stipulates a penalty of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to 1 million riyals (SAR) for anyone attempting to commit this crime. There are also legal penalties for those who are aware of such crimes but fail to report them.
