Health Minister Fahd Al-Jalajel expressed his gratitude to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who also serves as Prime Minister, for donating blood and launching the annual national blood donation campaign for 2026.

Al-Jalajel explained that this initiative builds on the Crown Prince’s humanitarian campaign launched last year, which helped promote a culture of voluntary blood donation and strengthened values of giving and social solidarity across the Kingdom.

The minister emphasized that the continuation of the campaign for a second year reflects the Crown Prince’s commitment to public health and his support for national initiatives that encourage community participation and reinforce the concept of national responsibility toward patients and those in need of blood and its components. This, he said, supports the health sector’s efforts to provide safe and sustainable blood supplies throughout the country.

Achievements of the national blood donation campaign

Al-Jalajel noted that the national blood donation campaign had a significant health and social impact in 2025, with the number of donors quadrupling. The Kingdom’s blood banks recorded their highest-ever number of donors, exceeding 65,000, with 100% voluntary donations and more than 85% being first-time donors.

He added that this momentum directly supported patient needs, benefiting more than 63,000 patients with blood units, 10,000 with platelets, and 10,000 with plasma. This has enhanced the readiness of blood banks and established voluntary donation as a sustainable community practice.

National message and call to participate

Al-Jalajel also stated that the Crown Prince’s donation sets an inspiring example of humanitarian action and sends a national message encouraging the public to take part in this noble effort, which helps save lives and support patients.

The health minister called on all members of society to participate in the national blood donation campaign and to donate regularly, highlighting the great humanitarian value of such contributions in saving the lives of patients and those injured.
