EU condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and Yemen

The European Union has strongly condemned attacks carried out by the Houthi militia targeting the Najran region in Saudi Arabia, as well as strikes on civilian facilities and infrastructure in Marib, Yemen, describing the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure as a dangerous escalation that must stop immediately.

In a statement issued in Brussels, the EU spokesperson said: "The European Union strongly condemns the recent attacks, which included the Najran region in the Kingdom, as well as attacks targeting the city of Marib in Yemen and civilian facilities and infrastructure."

The statement expressed the EU’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni government, stressing that targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure is unacceptable and calling for an immediate end to these attacks.

The EU warned that the recent attacks represent a serious escalation that could further undermine regional stability and threaten ongoing efforts to reach a peaceful resolution to the Yemeni conflict.

On Friday, the official spokesperson for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, announced that 11 civilians were injured in Najran as a result of Houthi terrorist attacks that took place on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Al-Maliki explained that the injured included seven Saudis—among them a woman and a four-year-old child who suffered second-degree burns—one Yemeni, two Egyptians, and one Pakistani national.
