Thunderstorms and strong winds forecast for several regions on Sunday

The National Center for Meteorology, in its weather report for today, forecast thunderstorms accompanied by hail showers and strong winds over parts of Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha, extending to areas in the highlands of Makkah region. Active winds stirring dust and sand are expected to affect the eastern parts of these regions, leading to near-zero visibility along the coastal road to Jazan and in the eastern parts of Najran. High temperatures will persist in the southern parts of the Eastern Province.

The report added that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly at 12–35 km/h in the northern and central parts, and westerly to southwesterly at 15–40 km/h, reaching over 50 km/h with the formation of thunderstorm clouds in the southern part. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one and a half meters, exceeding two meters with thunderstorms in the south. Sea conditions will be light to moderate, turning rough with thunderstorm activity in the southern part.

Over the Arabian Gulf, winds will be northwesterly to westerly at 15–35 km/h in the north, and northeasterly to easterly, shifting to northerly in the evening at 10–25 km/h in the central and southern parts. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one and a half meters in the north, and from half a meter to one meter in the central and southern parts, with sea conditions light to moderate.
