Naval coalition a strategic move to secure Red Sea, Bab Al-Mandab: Shahri

The commander of the multinational defensive naval coalition, Rear Admiral Abdullah Al-Shahri, said the alliance represents a strategic step to enhance maritime security and protect shared maritime interests in the Bab Al-Mandab Strait, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden. He stressed that the coalition is based on cooperation among member states to address challenges targeting international maritime corridors.

In remarks to Al-Ekhbariya TV, Shahri explained that the coalition was established in response to shared maritime threats and challenges, reflecting the conviction among participating countries that the security of international sea lanes is a collective responsibility requiring coordination and cooperation among members.

He noted that Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the multinational defensive naval coalition’s leadership, along with its permanent headquarters, underscores the Kingdom’s leading role in supporting and strengthening security at both the regional and international levels.

The coalition commander affirmed that the alliance does not target any state, organization, or other coalition, but rather carries out its duties and coordination in full compliance with international law, respecting state sovereignty and ensuring freedom of maritime navigation.
