Al-Khalil added, in an interview with Al-Ekhbariya TV, that the Houthis “have persisted in wrongdoing, abuse, corruption, and disregard for the feelings of Muslims,” considering the targeting of the Two Holy Mosques in Mecca and Medina as, in his opinion, evidence of their lack of respect for the sanctity of holy sites and the sentiments of Muslims.
The analyst linked these events to what he described as a long history of attacks on Islamic holy sites, recalling the Qarmatian assault on the Grand Mosque and pilgrims in Mecca during the 4th century AH.
