Najrani heritage terminology translation program launched

The "Najran Heritage Terminology Translation Program" was launched today at the Central Library of Najran University, supported by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission through its "Madeed" initiative. The program is a partnership with Najran University, the local branch of the Heritage Commission, and the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development.

This initiative is the first of its kind in the region, focusing on documenting and translating local heritage terms. It aims to provide accurate and reliable definitions of these terms in both Arabic and English, accompanied by illustrative and expressive images.

A printed booklet featuring these terms will also be published, including a QR code for easy digital access. The booklet will be distributed across various development and tourism facilities in the region, serving as an informative guide for visitors and tourists.

The program seeks to preserve the region’s cultural identity and protect the meanings of heritage terms from distortion or oversimplification. It also aims to empower student and researcher translators by providing them with specialized tools in cultural translation, thereby enhancing the presence of national cultural heritage locally and internationally.
