Saudi Arabia executes two men in Tabuk for amphetamine trafficking

The Ministry of Interior today issued a statement regarding the execution of two individuals in the Tabuk region. The statement reads as follows:

God Almighty said: "And do not cause corruption upon the earth after its reformation," and "Do not seek corruption in the land. Indeed, God does not like corrupters," and "God does not like corruption," and "The penalty for those who wage war against God and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment."

Mr. Abdelgaber Ali El-Sayed, an Egyptian national, was convicted of smuggling amphetamine pills into the Kingdom, while Rouhi bin Ali bin Mohammed bin Ali Obeidan, a Saudi national, was found guilty of receiving the same quantity for the purpose of distribution and accepting part of it. Security authorities apprehended the two individuals, and following investigations, they were charged with the crime. Upon referral to the competent court, they were found guilty and sentenced to death by discretionary punishment (ta'zir). The verdict was upheld on appeal and confirmed by the Supreme Court. A royal order was issued to carry out the sentence, and the execution was implemented for Abdelgaber Ali El-Sayed and Rouhi bin Ali bin Mohammed bin Ali Obeidan on Monday, March 25, 1448H, corresponding to September 7, 2026, in the Tabuk region.

The Ministry of Interior, in announcing this, affirms the Saudi government's commitment to protecting citizens and residents from the scourge of drugs, and to imposing the strictest legal penalties on traffickers and distributors due to the loss of innocent lives, severe harm to individuals and society, and violation of rights that result from such crimes. The Ministry also warns that anyone who commits such offenses will face the prescribed legal punishment.
