Qatar condemns drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities as violation of international law

Qatar has strongly condemned the attacks that attempted to target oil facilities in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province and Riyadh using drones launched from Iraqi territory.

Qatar described the incident as a blatant violation of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty, a threat to its security, stability, and territorial integrity, and a clear breach of international law, the United Nations Charter, and the principles of good neighborliness.

In a statement issued today, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Qatar's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all legitimate measures the Kingdom takes to preserve its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, confirmed that air defenses had intercepted and destroyed several drones in recent hours that attempted to target oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh.

Major General Al-Maliki explained that these terrorist attempts originated from Iraqi territory and were carried out by Iran-backed terrorist militias, stressing Saudi Arabia's inherent right to defend itself and its resources, and its right to respond at the appropriate time and place.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed Saudi Arabia's strongest condemnation of the drone attacks launched by Iran-backed militias in Iraq, reaffirming the Kingdom's determination to safeguard its security and sovereignty and to deter aggressors. The ministry emphasized Saudi Arabia's right to respond to the sources of aggression and renewed its call for the Iraqi government to take all necessary measures to prevent its territory from being used as a launchpad for attacks.
