Saudi Arabia, represented by the Board of Grievances, has signed the accession document to join the Arab Union of Administrative Judiciary in Cairo, making it the 16th member of the union. The signing took place at the headquarters of Egypt’s State Council.

The document was signed by Dr. Ali bin Ahmed Al-Ahaidib, President of the Board of Grievances and Chairman of the Administrative Judiciary Council, and Counselor Mahmoud Ibrahim Abu El-Dahab, President of the Arab Union of Administrative Judiciary and President of Egypt’s State Council.

The ceremony was attended by a high-level delegation of judges and Saudi officials, Deputy Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Egypt Khaled bin Hamad Al-Shammari, and senior leaders from Egypt’s State Council.

Board of Grievances’ position on accession

Al-Ahaidib stated that Saudi Arabia’s accession to the union extends the regional and international presence of the Saudi administrative judiciary, which has seen significant judicial, institutional, and digital development. He added that this step will help share the Board of Grievances’ experience with the Arab world and broaden opportunities for exchanging expertise and judicial knowledge among Arab administrative judicial bodies.

He explained that the document reflects the Board’s aim to expand judicial partnerships and showcase the Saudi experience in institutional and digital development, within a framework that supports judicial integration and enriches legal and judicial knowledge.

Al-Ahaidib noted that joining the union enhances the presence of the Saudi administrative judiciary in Arab and international judicial forums, and promotes awareness of its achievements in institutional development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and streamlining procedures. He said it also provides a wider platform for communication and exchange of expertise and best practices among Arab administrative judicial bodies.

He emphasized that this move is part of the Board’s efforts to strengthen Arab judicial cooperation and boost the contribution of the Saudi administrative judiciary to legal and judicial knowledge development.

Al-Ahaidib expressed his gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister, for their support and care for the Board of Grievances. He said the leadership’s backing is the foundation for the Board’s achievements and the prominent regional and international standing of the Saudi administrative judiciary.

Tour and exchange of commemorative shields

Abu El-Dahab led the President of the Board of Grievances on a tour of the historic headquarters of Egypt’s State Council at Princess Fawzia Palace, and both sides exchanged commemorative shields to mark the occasion.

Prior to Saudi Arabia’s accession, the Arab Union of Administrative Judiciary comprised 15 Arab judicial bodies specializing in administrative judiciary.
