Grand Mosque religious chief condemns attacks on holy sites, warns against division

Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, head of religious affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, has called for unity and solidarity around the Saudi leadership, while condemning Houthi attacks on the holy sites and warning against rumors and attempts to create division or undermine trust.

Al-Sudais stressed the importance of relying on trusted sources for news, cautioning against the spread of rumors amid current developments. He emphasized that safeguarding the security of Saudi Arabia and the holy sites requires collective effort and unity behind the leadership.

He described the Houthi assaults on the holy sites as contrary to religious and humanitarian values, and as violations of international norms and conventions, stressing that such attacks are incompatible with the revered status these sites hold for Muslims worldwide.

He added that targeting the holy sites reveals an aggressive approach that contradicts Islamic teachings, which prohibit violence, bloodshed, and corruption on earth.

The head of religious affairs at the Two Holy Mosques reiterated that current circumstances require greater unity and cooperation to protect the Kingdom and its sacred sites, again warning against efforts to sow division and undermine trust.

In closing, Al-Sudais prayed for the protection of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, people, the holy sites, and the security personnel and workers serving and safeguarding them.
