Saudi, UK foreign ministers discuss ties in first call after Ed Miliband appointment

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held a phone call today with Ed Miliband, the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.

At the start of the call, Prince Faisal congratulated Miliband on his new appointment, wishing him success in his duties and expressing hope for strengthening cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom to further develop relations between the two friendly countries.

For his part, the British foreign minister thanked Prince Faisal for his congratulations, reaffirming the UK's commitment to enhancing bilateral ties with Saudi Arabia. Miliband also reiterated Britain's solidarity with Saudi Arabia and condemned attacks by Iran-backed terrorist militias in Yemen targeting the Kingdom and other countries in the region.

During the call, both sides reviewed bilateral relations and recent regional developments, and discussed ways to strengthen joint efforts to support regional and global security and stability.
