Al-Baha Development Office and Misk empower 345 in media and tourism

The Al-Baha Strategic Development Office, in partnership with the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (Misk), organized two specialized workshops from August 22 to 26, 2026. A total of 345 participants, including university students and nonprofit sector employees, benefited from the sessions, which aimed to develop local capabilities and enhance their contribution to the region’s development goals.

The first workshop, titled “Developmental Media: From Message to Impact”, brought together 45 nonprofit sector employees. It focused on establishing the concept of developmental media as a tool to communicate the impact of initiatives and programs to the community. The workshop also addressed building effective media messages and developing participants’ skills in content creation and engagement with the community and partners.

As part of efforts to build young people’s professional skills, a workshop titled “Building Your Career in the Tourism Sector” was held for 300 university students. The session aimed to raise participants’ awareness of opportunities and required skills in the tourism sector, supporting them in shaping their career paths and preparing for future opportunities.

Interactive content and diverse opportunities

The tourism workshop featured interactive content, including insights into travel motivations, tourism patterns, and understanding the ecosystem that shapes the tourism experience and its integrated roles. It also covered discovering opportunities for various academic disciplines, building professional readiness and advantages, and the importance of gaining experience before graduation. The workshop emphasized that the tourism sector is not limited to tourism and hospitality majors, but intersects with many professional fields, offering young people a wide range of opportunities to contribute to the development of tourist destinations.

The Strategic Development Office stated that the workshops are part of its efforts to develop human capital in Al-Baha and to build strategic partnerships with specialized national entities. These initiatives aim to transfer knowledge, align capacity-building programs with the region’s needs and opportunities, and empower local youth to participate effectively in promising development and economic sectors, thereby maximizing and sustaining developmental impact.
