Eastern Province completes 14 parks, 8 urban projects under Bahja initiative

The Eastern Province Municipality has completed the development of 14 parks covering a total area of more than 98,625 square meters during the first half of this year, along with the implementation of 8 urban projects spanning over 743,500 square meters. These efforts are part of the "Bahja" initiative, which aims to improve quality of life, enhance the urban landscape, and expand public spaces in the region's cities and governorates.

Municipality spokesperson Faisal Al-Zahrani said the initiative included increasing vegetation by planting 11,573 trees and 61,060 shrubs, as well as expanding green spaces to 296,289 square meters. These measures are part of ongoing efforts to boost greenery, improve the urban environment, support environmental sustainability, and increase per capita access to open spaces.

Key projects under the initiative

Among the most prominent projects is the "Taraas Alkhobar" development on the Khobar waterfront, covering 40,000 square meters. The site is designed as an integrated urban destination combining entertainment, sports, and community activities. It features a seaside promenade, recreational areas, sports fields, cycling tracks, a skate park, interactive fountains, electric vehicle charging stations, viewing binoculars, and aesthetic elements to enhance the visitor experience.

The initiative also includes the "Bahja Sports Park" in Qaryat Al-Ulya governorate, spanning 13,000 square meters. The park provides a comprehensive sports environment with modern playing fields, walking and jogging tracks, green spaces, and service facilities to support sports activities for all community segments.

Development of parks and residential neighborhoods

As part of efforts to improve parks within residential neighborhoods, the Nasmah Park was developed in Dammam on a 2,000-square-meter plot, offering children's play areas, walking paths, shaded seating, and green spaces. In Khobar, the Farraj Park was established on 4,000 square meters, featuring walking and jogging tracks, seating areas, landscaping, and urban design elements to promote social interaction and enhance the urban environment.

Under humanization projects, the municipality developed Bilal bin Rabah Street in Dammam, covering 16,000 square meters. The project included upgrading sidewalks, organizing parking, creating safe pedestrian crossings, planting trees and greenery, and updating lighting and urban furniture.

The municipality continues to implement development projects under the "Bahja" initiative, aiming to create more attractive and sustainable urban environments, enhance the use of public spaces, develop parks, waterfronts, and community facilities, and increase green areas. These efforts support quality of life goals and strengthen the status of Eastern Province cities and governorates as vibrant urban destinations for residents and visitors.
