Riyadh schools welcome over 1.6 million students as new academic year begins Sunday

Schools under the Riyadh General Directorate of Education will welcome more than 1.6 million students across all grade levels on Sunday, September 10, marking the start of the 1448-1449 academic year. Preparations for the new school year have been fully completed.

The directorate announced on its X platform account that all preparations are finished, with human and technical resources mobilized to ensure a smooth and successful start. This includes implementing readiness committee plans and carrying out maintenance and preparations at schools.

The directorate also organized a “Back to School” program to celebrate the start of the new academic year, featuring a range of interactive activities for students, teachers, and parents. The initiative aims to boost readiness and foster a positive educational environment, as part of a comprehensive communication plan under the slogan “We Write the Story.”

The Riyadh General Directorate of Education announced the following school timings for the new year:
- Summer schedule: assembly at 6:15 a.m., first lesson at 6:30 a.m.
- Winter schedule: assembly at 6:45 a.m., first lesson at 7:00 a.m.
- Ramadan: first lesson begins at 9:00 a.m.
